Bookings can be made through our website. We do recommend booking in advance as we have limited availability but you can also try visiting us at Middle Beach as on occasions we have walk up slots free on the day subject to availability (but you would still need to arrive 30 minutes prior to allow us time to get the baths ready). Unfortunately we can no longer allow dogs at the seaweed spa due to operational changes.

Not at all. The pongy seaweed smell you’re no doubt thinking of is seaweed that is decomposing and rotting on the beach. Our seaweed is hand picked when fresh and then dried so doesnt smell at all.  The oils that are excreted are odourless

We run the hot water through the seaweed to allow it to excrete its oils as this occurs only when seaweed is warmed by hot water. 

The seaweed is contained within a muslin bag so that it excretes the natural oils into your water but stays inside the bags. You can then use the bags to massage over your body. 

Yes! The baths are fed by fresh hot water around 37-38 degrees. You shouldn’t need to, but you can top up during the bath time if required.  We do ask you not to empty the baths and rerun as this wastes water and you lose the mineral rich oils.

We have four roll-top baths in our two luxury beach huts on Middle Beach in Studland. Soak away and take in the view of the ocean from the tub.

Please bring your swimwear and a towel. We also advise bringing a bottle of water to rehydrate. Please note that there are no dedicated changing facilities within the seaweed spa, the roll-top baths are positioned inside our beach hut. If you are planning on taking a sea dip then we would recommend bringing water shoes to protect your feet.

Please remove all make up and do not wear sunscreen prior to your visit. We only use 100% natural products and have strict protocols about dealing with the waste water. Failure to follow these rules will restrict you from using the baths and you will not be refunded for your booking.

A staff member will meet you on Middle Beach just below the path down to the beach at our seaweed spa and you will be given your facemask and footscrub and instructions on what to do next.

The baths will be ready for you at the start of your session. They will be at the correct temperature, if you need to top up during your treatment time that is permitted but please do not empty the baths and re-run as we are mindful to conserve water and energy and you will lose the mineral-rich water that benefits you.

Please arrive on time for your Seaweed bath appointment.

Our hosts prepare the baths between sessions and will welcome you at your scheduled start time — sessions cannot begin early.

To make the most of your time, we recommend arriving ready in swimwear under your clothes or with a dry robe.

As we operate a busy schedule with back-to-back bookings, late arrival will result in reduced treatment time, as sessions cannot be extended beyond the allocated slot.

In peak season (April – October) we open 7 days a week from 0850 and close at 1800. The last bath is at 1650. During winter season (Nov – March) we will open on weekends and will have some limited midweek slots, we suggest adding yourself to the waitlist at this time of year if you want midweek and we will notify you if we can accommodate you. We do recommend that you book prior to arrival as we cannot guarantee availability on the day and there are times that we are closed due to staffing issues or extreme weather.

There are two baths in each hut (we have 2 huts) and each bath will accommodate 1 person. If you want to make a booking for more than 2 people please see our group options below.

Yes, we welcome children aged 4+ at our seaweed spa.  All children need to be accompanied by an adult on a 1:1 ratio when using the baths. To help preserve the calm and restorative atmosphere, we kindly ask guests to be mindful of noise levels, as others may be relaxing in the neighbouring hut.

Alternatively if you are booking for more than 2 people you can book both huts for your exclusive use. See our group options tab. 

We recommend refraining from showering to let the mineral rich oils stay on your skin and hair for longer but it is your choice. Beach style showers are due to be made available by the National Trust this summer in the Middle Beach car park.

We do permit you to use the baths but encourage you to be careful getting in and out and be mindful of the hot temperature of the water, we can adjust the temperature so that it is cooler for you if you let us know in advance on the booking form. 

Our baths are a warm seaweed bathing experience and, while many pregnant guests choose to enjoy them, we recommend extra caution during the first trimester and advise seeking medical advice if unsure. 

Seaweed is naturally rich in iodine, a mineral involved in normal thyroid function. Some people with underactive thyroid conditions choose to use seaweed-based wellness products and treatments for this reason.

However, as iodine may affect thyroid activity, we do not recommend our seaweed baths for guests with overactive thyroid conditions unless approved by their healthcare professional. If you have any thyroid condition or other medical concerns, please consult your GP or healthcare professional before booking.

We use 100% natural ingredients in our facemasks and footscrubs. They are made up of our own dried seaweed, kaolin clay and added dead sea salt and epsom salt in the foot scrubs. These products help gently cleanse your skin before allowing the natural seaweed oils to moisturise and detoxify.

We give you a tester to use during your treatment. Our skincare and bath range are now available online and at our seaweed spa soon.

Yes the baths are cleaned and refilled with fresh water between bookings.

The seaweed is hand-harvested by our partners Fore / Adventure along the Dorset Coast. Sustainable methods are used in line with their seaweed foraging licence awarded by the Crown Estate in partnership with Natural England. We only harvest fresh living seaweed and cut the top third to allow for the saeweed to regrow.

We give you the bags to take home. The seaweed can be used again up to another two times within the following few days after your bath with us.

The seaweed in your bath has been freshly harvested from the Dorset coast. As a completely wild and natural ingredient, every harvest is unique. Some release more of the silky, natural gel, while others release less, but each continues to infuse the water with naturally occurring minerals and beneficial seaweed compounds. We also incorporate our hand-harvested seaweed into the scrubs and masks used during your experience, allowing you to enjoy its natural properties throughout your treatment. It’s one of the things that makes every seaweed bath a truly unique experience.

Unfortunately it isn’t viable for us as a small business to take bookings and reserve slots and then allow customers to change them at the last minute. Please be sure that you can make your selected time in advance of booking with us as we don’t permit you to make any changes to your booking within two weeks of the session. We require 2 weeks notice for a full refund (minus £10 handling fee) or option to reschedule your booking to another date. If you cancel or want to change your booking within the two week period we can provide a 50% refund but no option to reschedule. If you cancel  or want to change your booking within one week prior or on the day we regret that we cannot provide a refund or option to reschedule.
