About the founders of Sae Seaweed
It was 2010 and with a life long passion for nature, Jade and Dan followed their hearts to Dorset to a little hut on the shores of Studland beach. Their wild food adventure company Fore / Adventure was born and has since then been at the forefront of it’s field. Featured in numerous publications and broadcast programmes, but more importantly it’s enabled Jade and Dan to fulfill their dream that began 15 years ago; to connect other people to nature too.
Since first setting foot on Studland’s sandy shores, they have been committed to working sustainably and sensitively, seeing themselves as custodians of this remarkable stretch of Dorset coastline. Through years of foraging, sea kayaking and sharing the landscape with others, they developed a deep appreciation for one of the coast’s most overlooked natural resources: seaweed.
Inspired by its mineral-rich composition and long history in wellness traditions around the world, they began exploring how seaweed could be used to support modern wellbeing. What started as hand-harvesting seaweed for coastal bathing rituals has evolved into Sae Seaweed, a collection of seaweed spa experiences and natural skincare products crafted using sustainably harvested Dorset seaweed. Born on the shoreline and inspired by the restorative power of the sea, Sae invites people to slow down, reconnect and experience the benefits of nature for themselves.

A personal note from our founders
The catalyst for starting the seaweed spa was mostly related to our own health battles which motivated us to explore natural alternatives to healing and pain relief. Jade has been living with a long term connective tissue disease and more recently was diagnosed with a rare mast cell condition called Mastocytosis. Her symptoms include fatigue and chronic pain and part of her condition can cause anaphylaxis so she has to be really careful managing this and avoiding allergic reactions as amongst other things she is particularly sensitive to artificial ingredients in food and skin care.
Knowing the benefits of seaweed baths and the medicinal properties of seaweed first hand, Jade made the decision to look into how seaweed could help her manage pain naturally. She found that seaweed baths were really helpful and so wanted to share this knowledge with other people to enhance their well being and health too. Together Jade and Dan hoped that their seaweed spa could bring relief to others also experiencing health conditions and feedback so far has confirmed that it has, with many visitors telling us their pain and symptoms improved after visiting. Take a peak at our reviews.
Jade’s passion for natural skincare and the health benefits of plant based living have been instrumental to working on a new skincare and bath range that are ideal for sensitive and allergy prone skin like her own and packed with natural hero ingredients good for all skin types. Our new skincare collection has now launched, made with natural ingredients and paraben and silicone free with a focus on the benefits of seaweed for the skin. We hope you love them as much as we do!

Why Seaweed is good for your skin and body
Seaweeds are naturally rich in key minerals absorbed from the seawater which makes them really beneficial for the skin. We start your experience with an exfoliating foot scrub which includes our own seaweed, clay and salts and a choice of peppermint or nettle before you take your bath. The oils that are released when seaweed is steeped in hot water also have a dense concentration of vitamins, trace elements, macro elements, phytohormones and amino acids which are wonderfully hydrating as they retain moisture which is really beneficial for your body, hair and skin.
As you soak in the baths, the seaweed helps to draw out toxins and impurities from your body as the natural oils that are released are packed with iodine, magnesium, and potassium which are detoxifying and naturally soothing for stiff joints and sore muscles. Towards the end of your soak, after the steam has opened your pores, you apply a soothing face mask made from kaolin clay and our seaweed. End your experience with us by using the natural seaweed serum that’s released from the seaweed to moisturise your face, skin and hair.

How our seaweed skin care products are produced in Dorset
Jade has been busy working away behind the scenes in partnership with a UK natural skincare supplier and cosmetics chemist to create a skin care and bath range that incorporates their own seaweed extract. This extract is harnessed from wild seaweed that Jade and Dan have harvested from the Dorset coast under their foraging license from the Crown Estate. The emphasis on this range is on creating paraben and silicone free skin care products that allow the natural ingredients to shine. The range is now available to purchase online and at the spa.
The first range of products are now available online and we are already working on the next phase and future plans for seaweed treatments at the seaweed spa. If you are a hotel or spa and are interested in working with us or stocking our products do get in touch hello@saeseaweed.co.uk as we are at an exciting stage in this process.
